I’m a PPC geek, happiest when I’m with my two teenagers, on the days they’re in a good mood. Or out in the Devon countryside with my best mate Toby, the golden retriever pictured below. The husband is alright too, I suppose.
My Experience at Geeky Tech
I’m Head of Paid Media, which means I’m responsible for how our paid campaigns perform and for the team who run them. Day to day that’s strategy, budgets, testing and measurement. It’s also making sure clients can see what paid media is actually contributing to their business, rather than only how many clicks it bought.
Ten years in paid media before this, a lot of it B2B and tech. SaaS, SOC 2 compliance, finance software, estate agent software, and high-end car chargers.
Even a little bit of science like catheters and even cord blood storage too, which is still the hardest thing I have had to explain in 90 characters. If it’s complicated and sold to people who research properly before they buy, I’ve probably worked on something like it.
What Makes Me a Geek the Geekiest
I was building Search Ads Google Ads back in the golden age of 2016 when you only had one headline and one description to make an impact! Imagine that.
Ten years before that, I was a teenager who could not be separated from a laptop. My parents eventually banned it from the house, so I bought a tent, ran the charger through the window and carried on from the garden. We all have a rebellious phase. Mine was mostly Bebo and MSN.
I also film and edit for my daughters football club, where a three-minute clip for socials will cost me three hours on a Sunday. Nobody asked me to. I just can’t get enough of being creative and growing her personal brand.
