Grant Us Access to Your Meta (Facebook & Instagram) Ads
There are two ways to give us access to your Meta ad account. Pick whichever suits you best.
What you’ll need
- Access to your Meta Business Portfolio (formerly Business Manager) at business.facebook.com
- Admin access to your Business Portfolio
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your Facebook account
- About 10 minutes
Option A: Add our team lead to your Business Portfolio
This is the quickest approach. You add our head of paid media as an Admin to your Business Portfolio, and we take care of assigning ourselves to the right assets (ad accounts, pages, pixels) from there.
Who to add
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| amine@geekytech.co.uk | |
| Role | Admin |
Step 1: Open Business Settings
- Go to business.facebook.com and sign in.
- If you manage multiple businesses, pick the right one from the dropdown in the top-left.
- Click Settings (gear icon) in the bottom-left sidebar.
Step 2: Go to People
- In the left menu under Users, click People.
Step 3: Add our team lead
- Click the blue Add button.
- Enter the email address: amine@geekytech.co.uk
- Select Admin access.
- Click Invite.
That’s it from your side. Amine will accept the invite and handle connecting everything up.
What does Admin access allow?
| Permission | Included? |
|---|---|
| View and manage ad accounts | Yes |
| Create and manage campaigns | Yes |
| Access pages, pixels, and other assets | Yes |
| Add and remove people | Yes |
| Modify business settings | Yes |
| Change billing/payment details | Yes |
TIP
Admin access doesn’t transfer ownership. You’re still the Business Portfolio owner and can change or remove permissions anytime.
Option B: Share assets with our Business Portfolio
If you’d prefer to keep tighter control, you can share specific assets (ad accounts, pages, pixels) with our Business Portfolio directly. This way, you choose exactly what we can access.
Our Business Portfolio details
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Business name | GT Business Manager |
| Business Portfolio ID | 514506582305534 |
Step 1: Open Business Settings
- Go to business.facebook.com and sign in.
- If you manage multiple businesses, pick the right one from the dropdown in the top-left.
- Click Settings (gear icon) in the bottom-left sidebar.
Step 2: Go to Partners
- In the left menu under Users, click Partners.
Step 3: Add us as a partner
- Click the blue Add button.
- Select “Give a partner access to your assets”.
- Enter our Business Portfolio ID: 514506582305534
- Click Next.
Step 4: Assign assets
- You’ll see a list of assets you can share with us. Here’s what we typically need:
| Asset type | What to share | Permission level |
|---|---|---|
| Ad accounts | Your main ad account(s) | Advertiser (or Admin if you’d like us to manage users too) |
| Pages | Your Facebook page | Manage Page |
| Pixels | Your Meta Pixel | Manage Pixel |
| Instagram accounts | Your Instagram business account (if applicable) | Manage |
Select the assets and permissions, then click Save Changes.
Step 5: We accept the partnership
Once you’ve sent the request:
- We’ll see it in our Business Portfolio under Partners > Requests.
- We accept the partnership.
- The assets you shared become available to our team.
We’ll let you know once everything’s connected.
What do these asset permissions allow?
Ad account roles:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full access to the ad account, including managing users |
| Advertiser | Create and manage ads, view performance, manage budgets |
| Analyst | View reports and performance data only |
Page roles:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Manage Page | Full control over page content, messages, and ads |
| Create Content | Publish posts and stories, respond to messages |
| Moderate | Respond to comments and messages |
| Advertise | Create ads from the page |
| Analyse | View page insights only |
Which option should I pick?
| Â | Option A | Option B |
|---|---|---|
| Setup time | Faster | Takes a bit longer |
| Your control | We have broad access | You pick exactly what we see |
| Best when | You want us to handle everything | You want to manage permissions yourself |
Both options work well. If you’re not sure, Option A is the easiest and we can always adjust later.
What happens next?
Once access is set up:
- Our paid media team can start managing your Meta ad campaigns.
- You stay the Business Portfolio owner. You’re in full control and can change permissions or remove access anytime.
- Billing stays with you. We don’t get access to your payment methods unless you specifically grant it.
- We’ll confirm everything’s connected and ready to go.
Meta Ads: Common Issues
Running into trouble? Here’s what comes up most often.
"I'm not sure if I have a Business Portfolio (Business Manager)"
Quick way to check:
- Go to business.facebook.com and sign in with your Facebook account.
- If you see a Business Portfolio dashboard with your company name, you’ve got one.
- If you’re prompted to create one, you don’t have one yet.
If you need to create a Business Portfolio, Meta will walk you through it. You just need your business name and your Facebook account. Let your GeekyTech account manager know if you need help.
"I can't find Business Settings"
Look for the gear icon labelled Settings in the bottom-left sidebar at business.facebook.com.
If you still can’t see it:
- Make sure you’re on business.facebook.com, not just facebook.com.
- Check you’re signed in with the Facebook account that has Admin access.
- If you manage multiple Business Portfolios, make sure you’ve selected the right one from the dropdown in the top-left.
"It's asking me to enable two-factor authentication (2FA)"
Meta requires 2FA for all Business Portfolio users. This is a security feature that you can’t skip.
To set it up:
- Go to your Facebook account settings.
- Navigate to Security and Login (or Password and Security).
- Under Two-factor authentication, click Edit.
- Choose your method (authenticator app is recommended, SMS works too).
- Follow the steps to complete setup.
Once 2FA is enabled, try adding us again.
"I sent the partner request but they haven't received it" (Option B)
A few things to check:
- Correct ID? Double-check you entered our Business Portfolio ID exactly: 514506582305534
- Check the Requests tab. Go to Partners in your Business Settings and look under the Requests tab. If it shows as “Pending”, we haven’t accepted yet. Give us a day or two.
- Let us know. Drop a message to your GeekyTech account manager and we’ll check on our end.
"I added the person but they can't see my ad account" (Option A)
Adding someone to your Business Portfolio doesn’t automatically give them access to every asset. After inviting Amine, you may also need to:
- Go to Ad accounts in the left menu of Business Settings.
- Select the ad account.
- Click Add people and assign Amine the appropriate role.
Alternatively, if Amine already has Admin access to the Business Portfolio, they can assign themselves. Just let us know and we’ll handle it.
"I can't assign my page to a partner"
A couple of possible reasons:
- Meta Verified pages have restrictions on partner access. If your page has a blue checkmark, you may need to contact Meta support for help.
- You’re not an admin of the page. Only page admins can share the page with partners. Check your page roles under Pages in Business Settings.
- The page is claimed by another Business Portfolio. Each page can only belong to one Business Portfolio. If another business has claimed it, you’ll need to resolve that first.
"I don't know the difference between People and Partners"
Simple breakdown:
| Â | People | Partners |
|---|---|---|
| What you’re adding | An individual person | Another business |
| How you add them | By email address | By Business Portfolio ID |
| Best for | Internal team members | Agencies and external collaborators |
| Access control | Person gets a role in your Business Portfolio | You share specific assets with their business |
Option A (adding Amine) uses the People method. Option B (sharing via our ID) uses the Partners method.
"I only want to give ad account access, not page access"
That’s fine. When using Option B, you choose which assets to share. If you only want to share your ad account, just skip the page, pixel, and Instagram steps.
Keep in mind that without page access, we won’t be able to run certain ad formats (like feed ads that appear as posts from your page). Your GeekyTech account manager can explain what’s affected.
"I want to remove access later"
Anytime:
If you used Option A (People):
- Go to Business Settings > People.
- Find Amine.
- Click Remove.
If you used Option B (Partners):
- Go to Business Settings > Partners.
- Find GT Business Manager.
- Click Remove.
This removes all shared access at once.
