Osano is an all‑in‑one data privacy platform with a comprehensive suite of solutions. These include cookie consent management, DSAR automation, vendor privacy risk management, and more.
Osano operates in a brutally competitive space where the term ‘cookie consent’ is high‑volume and high‑difficulty.
It’s not a keyword that’s easy to win. Even so, when we first met with Osano, it was actually already ranking for ‘cookie consent’ (kudos to them!). Increasing its visibility around this keyword was a major goal, but not the only one.
The team was on a bigger mission to increase organic visibility, authority, and lead generation around consent management and privacy-program-related keywords. Naturally, the marketing team wanted to be seen as the go‑to provider for businesses navigating GDPR, CPRA, and other global privacy compliance requirements.
Just to throw a little context in the mix: this all took place at the dawn of the GEO era, when marketers and SEO companies like Geeky Tech were starting to notice the effects of AI-powered search. Getting ranked on Google was one thing, but we were about to find out what a solid SEO strategy could do for AI visibility.
Using traditional SEO methods, we worked with Osano to develop a strong keyword strategy and an aggressive content plan to cover topics such as subject rights management, data mapping, vendor privacy risk management, and more.
Pairing our SEO efforts with GEO best practices, we then clustered these topics around high‑intent queries such as “cookie consent,” “cookie banner solutions with regulatory updates,” and “privacy program management software.”
Over time, this approach moved Osano from simply ranking for those keywords to ruling in that space. We strengthened an already strong presence on “cookie consent,” pushed more queries onto page one, and turned previously unranked pages into additional ranking wins. Osano was finally getting traffic and interest across multiple entry points.
Meanwhile, all that sustained keyword authority had been laying the groundwork for the next phase of Osano’s world domination. That is, all that hard SEO work began to pay dividends when we realised that its search rankings were influencing Osano’s visibility in AI search engines.
Within the 12 months of working with Geeky Tech, Osano achieved
Osano finally reached #1 for ‘cookie consent’ and has stayed there as of this writing. It also holds top positions for a cluster of related privacy and consent keywords.
Using our AI brand intelligence platform, GeekyIQ, we also noticed a huge shift in Osano’s visibility in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini. As its rankings increased, so did its mentions and citations in AI-powered answers to queries around “best providers” and “best companies” for consent management, cookie banner solutions, CPRA tools, and privacy program management software.
Even now, Osano’s visibility, brand mentions, and link presence remain strong across AI Overviews and chat-based engines, and it frequently appears in top recommendations for data privacy governance software.
What does this all mean? That strong SEO doesn’t just win traditional visibility in the SERPs. It now shapes how AI systems surface and recommend privacy platforms in an increasingly zero-click world.
Osano’s investment in SEO not only helped it win in traditional search spaces but also drove its success in AI-driven discovery.
As they say, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander 🪿.
